Tharushi Rajakaruna is a Grade 13 student of Nugawela National School, who is a talented womens cricketer and she started her cricket career at the age of twelve years and her cricket coach is S. Jaliya . Tharushi is a right hand batswoman and a right arm off-spinner and she was selected to the school cricket team under the captaincy of Madara Samarakoon in 2015 and 2016.

The Cricket team of Nugawela National School came up-to Quarter Finals at the All Island Schools Tournament in 2015/16 and Tharushi captured only 10 wickets and scored 40 runs in 2016 which was her highest score, but she proved her talent as an all-rounder when she went for training under coach Amila Pinnaduwa, the Provincial Cricket coach and Ananda Bandaranayake, the District Cricket Coach and they saw her talent in cricket and included Tharushi in the Development Squad in 2018 and immediately she showed her talent as an off-spinner when she bagged 4 for 21 at the Inter Provincial Tournament against Dambulla CC Team representing Kandy District side.

In the following year 2019 she took another step forward as a Batswoman to score 49 runs against Nuwara Eliya District at the Inter District Tournament. She remained in the Kandy District Women’s Cricket team and in 2020 she notched up her first century when she scored 101 runs against Nuwara-Eliya District at the Inter District Women’s Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Association. This year at the All Island Girls Schools Cricket Tournament she bagged three wickets for 13 runs against St.Anthony’s Girls School,Katugastota and she has two more cricket matches to be played against Mahamaya Girls School Cricket team,Kandy and Jayasiripura Junior School,Bakamuna. In the first round of the Tournament. She is determined to give an all-round performance she is grateful to Provincial Cricket Coach Amila Pinnaduwa and District Cricket Coach, Ananda Bandaranayake and also her father, Hiran Rajakaruna who captained the Cricket Team of St.Sylvester’s College,Kandy in 1985/86 cricket season, who was her main instructor in cricket. Her ambition is to be a talented womens cricketer in the future.
