Al Ameen and St Mary’s Trincomalee District champions

Al Ameen Vidyalaya emerged as the winner in the boys’ category, while St Mary’s Ladies’ College claimed victory in the girls’ category from the Trincomalee District in the SAMAPOSHA All-island Schools Under-14 Football Championships 2023.

In the district final, Al Ameen’ Vidyalaya competed against Kinniya Central College and emerged victorious in a thrilling game held at Kinniya Elilarangu Urban Council Grounds. Prior to that, in the district semi-final, Al Ameen’ Vidyalaya defeated Al Aqsa National School Kinniya to secure their place in the final.

During the first round of the competition, there were a total of 24 school teams from the Trincomalee District, divided into eight groups with three teams in each group. After the completion of the first round, twelve teams were selected to proceed to the second round.

Al Ameen Vidyalaya performed exceptionally well in the first round, finishing at the top of the points table with 6 points, having comprehensively won both their matches. In the second round, they continued their winning streak by defeating Mutur Ayisha Vidyalaya and Buhary Maha Vidyalaya. As for the girls’ category, St Mary’s Ladies’ College, Kinniya was the sole representative from the district and emerged as the uncontested winners. The matches were coordinated by ALM Nafeel, the Trincomalee District Coordinator of the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association. The referees for the matches included MAF Mufris, F Fowsan, NM Rinas, NM Roomy, S Thinas, MY Ikraam, NM Fatheeh, SM Sarjees, N Sifan, and AM Sihan.
