One dead in CM’s jeep crash

A 67-year-old person died when the three wheeler he was travelling collided with a jeep in which North Central Province Chief Minister Peshala Jayaratne was travelling at Sigiriyamulla in Sigiriya around 5.45 p.m. on Saturday.

The three wheeler driver injured in the accident is warded at the Dambulla Hospital. The deceased was identified as A.N. Somaratne of Melsiripura.

He had been returning in the three wheeler after visiting his son in Sigiriya when the tragedy occurred.

The driver of the Chief Minister’s vehicle was arrested.
