Private buses on Jaffna long distance routes on strike

Bus crew operating on long distance buses from Jaffna and routes within the province launched a strike from yesterday morning protesting against the CTB private bus joint timetable introduced recently.

The strike caused great inconvenience to commuters.

The SLTB introduced 20 additional buses to tide over the situation and operated 300 additional frequencies to help commuters to get to their destinations, SLTB chief operations manager (North) Upali Kiriwaththudawa said.

There is no Road Transport Authority in Jaffna to administer the private bus service.
