New State Minister, two Deputy Ministers sworn-in

Parliamentarian Lakshman Seneviratne was sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena as State Minister of Science, Technology and Research yesterday.

Galle District Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara and Kalutara District Parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma also took oaths as Deputy Ministers before the President yesterday. Nanayakkara was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Employment while Thewarrapperuma as North Western Province Development and Culture.

Manusha Nanayakkara who made his debut appearance in Parliament on the UNP ticket later joined the SLFP when the party was led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Seneviratne who entered Parliament thorough the 1985 by election from the United National Party, later joined the SLFP. He was Minister of Sugar of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's Government

Lakshman Seneviratne is the son of former Labour Minister Captain C.P.J. Seneviratne. Kalutara District UNP Parliamentarian Palitha Thewarapperuma was former Matugama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and a former Western Provincial Council member before being elected Member of Parliament from the Kalutara district.

Thewarapperuma always stood by the members of the party at grass roots level rendered a committed service for the party's victory at the last parliamentary election.
