Pera student explorers who climbed Mount Everest return today

The Peradeniya University team of student explorers, who successfully reached a height of 6,189 metres – the highest altitude of Mount Everest reached by a Sri Lankan university student team – is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka today (10).

J. A. Harsha Dharmapriya, a final year student at the Engineering Faculty was the leader of the expedition team which left the island to climb Mount Everest on April 8.

The other members included R.M.T.T.B. Samarakoon (Faculty of Science), H.M.C.S. Madawela (Faculty of Engineering), W.H.M. Dilshan (Faculty of Arts), M.A. Sanduni Kanchana (Faculty of Engineering) and M.M.H.R.B. Mannapperuma (Faculty of Agriculture).

As planned, the University of Peradeniya has arranged to hold a special reception for the students who completed the expedition on Wednesday (8) at the airport, and a group of teachers and students of the university led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Terence Madhujith were due to participate in the event.
