Ramesh, Nishan heroics put Galle in command

Skipper Ramesh Mendis made a fighting knock of 111 while off spinner Nishan Pieris took bowling honours taking 5 for 42 as Galle ended the third day with strong position in their final game of the National Super League (NSL) played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Galle CC made 304 all out in their first innings with 12 runs behind to Kandy’s  first innings total but Galle team fought back strongly to put pressure on Kandy team in the second innings and Kandy team was in deep trouble and all out for 163 yesterday.

Galle have to get 176 runs winning target today the final day of the game to win the title.

In fact off spinner Nishan Pieris was the chief wreaker taking 5 for 42 in his 24 over spell while Galle Skipper Ramesh Mendis hit 111 in 157 balls with 10 fours to reach 304 all out in their first innings.

Today the final day Galle have to get 176 runs to win the title while Kandy bowlers expected to take ten wickets before their winning target.
