Half centuries by Dinesh Panditharatne (52 in 56 balls, inclusive of 3 sixes and 2 fours) and Chamindu Wijesinghe (50 n.o. in 43 balls, inclusive of a six and 4 fours) steered, HNB ‘B’ to a comfortable seven wickets win over Dialog Axiata, in the Sixth Fairfirst Insurance Ltd Trophy, MCA ‘F’ division 25-over League Tournament 2024 final, concluded at the MCA ground.
Dialog Axiata, batting first was restricted to 142 for 9 in 25 overs by the HNB ‘B’ bowlers, Mohamed Ikram, Dineth Panditharatne and Supun Akalanka. Dialog was rescued by Sanjana Silva, who scored a fighting 55 runs in 39 balls, inclusive of four sixes and two fours.
HNB ‘B’ reached their target in 20.1 overs (143 for 3) Dinesh Panditharatne from HNB ‘B’ was adjudged as his Man of the match. The other three special awards, based on performances up to the semi-finals, went to Dilan Harshana Bandara from Dialog Axiata (Best Batsman); Achintha Supun Akalanka from HNB ‘B’ (Best Bowler) and Dinesh Panditharatne from HNB ‘B’ (Man of the Series). Awards were presented by the Chief Guest, Sandeep Gopal, Chief Executive Officer.
