Navy divers clear Ellawala Reservoir sluice gates

Navy divers removed an existing block in the sluice of Ellawela Reservoir in the Hakmana Divisional Secretariat Division.

Due to the existing obstacles, the release of water for agricultural activities in the 2024 Yala season was blocked due to the non-discharge of the water, and the coordination activities related to providing the assistance of Navy divers to monitor the obstacles and remove them were carried out by the Matara District Disaster Management Co-ordinating Unit.

Farmers who cultivate 1,300 acres of paddy land belonging to the Hakmana-Ellawela area will be benefited by removing an existing blocks in the sluice.
