Ten male boxers and six female boxers are expected to compete at the inaugural Lanka Fight League (LFL) event, scheduled to be held tomorrow (27) at the Royal MAS Arena in Colombo from 5:30 pm onwards.
LFL, in collaboration with the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), has organised this first-ever LFL Boxing League tournament. It promises to be highly competitive, with the best boxers from each weight category participating. Cash awards and prizes will be given to both winners and losers in each weight category.
Lt. Commodore Chandralal Nanayakkara, a former Navy Boxer and co-founder of LFL, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with BASL.”We aim to elevate boxing in Sri Lanka through this event and promote the sport globally through innovative formats.”
Dian Gomes, the President of BASL, emphasised its role in advancing Sri Lankan boxing. “We see this collaboration as a platform to nurture the nation’s boxing talents,” Gomes stated.
“We aim to expand the league with foreign boxers in the future, he said.
Emmanuel Murugaiah, another co-founder of LFL, highlighted their goal to extend the league to the school level, emphasising its potential benefits for tourism promotion.

Minimum weight category 48kg: H.M.L.P Jayawardene (Army), D.H Tissaarachchi (Back2Fit BC), Bantamweight category 54kg: R.M.P Dharmasena (Army), K.V.L Eranda (Air Force), Featherweight category 57kg: P.S.R Prasanna (Army), P.G.E Madushan (Air Force), Welterweight category 67kg: P.S.P.S Fernando (Army), A.M.T.S Adukari (Navy), Middle weight category 75kg: K.G Pathmasiri (Army), W.M.G.K.I Ariyarathne (Navy).
Women’s
Minimum weight 48 kg: H.K.N.N Perera (Army), S.V Rathnapuli (Hanwella Rajasinghe BC), Bantam weight 54 kg: L.I.N Malshani (Air Force), R.M.Y.D.B Menike (Navy), Feather weight 57 kg:, K.K I.T.Perera (Air Force), G.W.G.C Tharuka (Police).
