Saneshi Willoraarachichi proudly receives her trophies from the Chief Guest during the award ceremony at the Bandarawela Ranking Tournament.

After taking a two-year break to focus on her studies, Saneshi Willoraarachchi, a tennis sensation from Musaeus College, made a triumphant return to the court at the Bandarawela Ranking Tennis Tournament. Despite facing tough competition, Saneshi emerged victorious, clinching a remarkable triple crown.

During her comeback tournament, the Hill Club Tennis Tournament, Saneshi displayed her talent against Sri Lanka’s top player, Dinara de Silva of St Bridget’s Convent. Though she narrowly missed out on victory in that match, Saneshi’s performance was stellar as she went on to secure the Women’s Singles title, Women’s Doubles title, and Under-18 Doubles crown in the Bandarawela Ranking Tournament.

Saneshi’s journey in tennis began with orange ball tournaments at the age of eight in Bandarawela, where she quickly rose to prominence by dominating the Under-10, Under-12, and Under-14 categories. Even at a young age, she displayed impressive skill, earning the title of Sri Lanka’s number two player in both the Under-12 and Under-14 age groups.

Throughout her tennis journey, Saneshi has been guided by her coach, Bharathi Raj Pillai, at the Hit Tenniz Academy in Colombo. With Pillai’s expertise as a Level III Coach, Saneshi has honed her skills and achieved outstanding success on the court.

Looking ahead, Saneshi aims to represent Sri Lanka in both local and international tournaments while pursuing her overseas studies.
