Upul Shantha Sannasgala, the renowned Sinhala tutor, social activist, musician and author who was arrested by the Kandana Police yesterday morning (25), has been released on a surety bail by the Welisara Magistrate’s Court.
Sannasgala was apprehended by the Kandana Police yesterday morning in connection with allegations levelled against him of financial misconduct, the Police Media Division said.
The arrest of Sannasgala was made by the Kandana Police in response to accusations made by an individual against him claiming that Sannasgala failed to return Rs. 1 million which had been obtained from him.
Following the arresting of Sannasgala by the Kandana Police, he was produced before the Welisara Magistrate’s Court, where he was ordered to be released on a surety bail by the Court.
