University of British Columbia to train local Education sector

Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said that, officials from the University of British Columbia (UoBC) in Vancouver, Canada, are negotiating with their local counterparts to train staff in Sri Lanka’s Education sector.

Discussions focused on the possibility of training Educators, Lecturers, Principals of the 19 National Colleges of Education (NCE) in the country, as well as the Educational Administrators and Faculty members of the “Sri Lanka University of Education”, which is to be established by merging all the NCEs in the future. UoBC Acting President Prof. Gage Averill, Member of the International Board of Governors Prof. Anna Kindler, Senior Advisor and Director of International Affairs Dr. Fang Wang representing the UoBC, were present at this event. Advisor to the Education Ministry, Professor Gunapala Nanayakkara was also present.
