Merone Wijesinghe and Madushani Herath will lead Sri Lanka’s boys and girls teams for the 19th Asian Junior Athletics Championship which is scheduled to be held from April 24 to 27 in Dubai, UAE .
The 17-member junior team will take part this event which is going to be a good exposure for Sri Lankan young athletes said Secretary of Sri Lanka Athletics Saman Kumara Gunawardena.
Former National athlete and renown coach K.G Badra Gunawardena will be accompanied the team as head coach while Manager is Indika Prasanna and the Lady Cheporon is Nadeepa Thillakaratne.
After the successful trails the juniors selected for this tournament based on their performance while most of them are from outstations.
Meanwhile four member team Yupun Abeykoon, Tharushi Karunaratne, Gayanthika Abeyrathne and Nadeesha Ramanayake will take part in Dubai Grand Prix athletics championship which will be held on May 3 in Dubai.
The 17 member Junior athletic team will leave today for the 19th Asian Junior Athletics Championship in Dubai and they have two days for training to adjust to the conditions.
