Male-Colombo direct flights from April 25

Maldivian Airlines has expanded its connectivity to Sri Lanka adding Male-Colombo direct flights from April 25. This was announced by its General Sales Agent for Sri Lanka, Nawaloka Airline Services (Pvt) Ltd on Friday.

The new route will see Maldivian operating two weekly flights, on every Thursday and Saturday. The expansion of service underscores the airline’s commitment to facilitating seamless travel experiences and fostering stronger ties between Sri Lanka and Maldives. Chief Commercial Officer of the Maldivian Airlines, Ismail Amrah stated “Sri Lanka is a destination which is immensely important to us. Maldives and Sri Lanka, both of our communities have a close netted travel trade relationship that dates back to the seafarers. Even the first to Maldives was operated between Maldives and Colombo.” “The route is important for us as we want to support this close-netted community. And Also to support growing leisure travel between both countries. We are positioning ourselves to cater leisure, business, local and medical travel between Colombo and Male. We are very confident that this route launch will create lasting value for our customers.”

The scheduled aircraft will have 138 economy class seats and 14 business class seats. Maldivians have a target market of Maldivians, Sri Lankans, medical travellers, business travellers and also leisure travellers.

Key guests in attendance included representatives from Maldivian, esteemed dignitaries such as Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Chairman of Nawaloka Holdings and Ranga Goonawardena, High Commissioner Designate to The Republic of Maldives.
