ITC Ratnadipa, the latest super luxury hotel in Colombo, will be inaugurated under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe on April 25. The event will also be graced by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha.
Located on Galle Road in Colombo 1 next to the One Galle Face mall, ITC Ratnadipa Hotel is the first international hotel of ITC Hotels, debuting in Colombo. It is the maiden development project in Sri Lanka by WelcomHotels Lanka Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITC Ltd.
The 350-key property, named ITC Ratnadipa, and a luxury residential development called Sapphire Residencies sit on a 5.86-acre block of land, offering a panoramic view of the Indian Ocean and Beira Lake. The 30-storied hotel and 50-storied residence, joined by a skybridge 100 metres above ground, is touted to be an engineering feat. The landmark hotel is their first project outside India for ITC.
This super-luxury hotel promises a new level of opulence and service excellence in Colombo, catering to discerning travellers seeking an indulgent and world-class experience. The company is reported to have invested close to INR 3,000 crore in the Sri Lankan luxury property, under a subsidiary WelcomHotels Lanka.
In the past two years, it opened 22 hotels and is expected to open 25 hotels in the next two years (January 2024-December 2025).
Overall, it is targeting 200 hotels with about 18,000 keys over the next five years with two-third of the keys in the managed portfolio, according to the company’s recent investor document.
ITC Hotel Group operates properties under six brands — ITC Hotels, Mementos, Welcomhotel, Storii, Fortune, and WelcomHeritage. It has about 130 properties with about 12,000 keys in 80 destinations across India.
