Gurukula-Sri Dharmaloka Big Match, a tame draw

Gurukula College Vs Sri Dharmaloka College played their 34th Annual Big Match called the “Battle of Kelaniya” which was played on April 10 and 11 at the P.Saravanamuttu International Cricket Stadium (Colombo Oval). The match ended in a tame draw.

17-year-old lanky all-rounder Daham Vimukthi Edirisinghe played an explosive innings of 79 runs from 99 balls. His debut performance guided Gurukula to a 1st innings total of 271 runs in 79 overs. Also, Thathsara Eshan scored 56 runs in 106 balls to add Gurukula’s total.

Meanwhile, Sri Dharmaloka concluded the first day’s play with a score of 27/1 wicket. The second day belonged to Dharmaloka player Lakwan Dias, who stroked a fluent knock of 61 runs including five sixes and four boundaries and Dharmaloka ended their innings of 193 runs in 83 overs, and they played until tea interval.

Gurukula in their second innings scored 139 runs for 4 wickets at close, but both teams never tried to go for a decision.
