The Neurosurgery Department of the National Hospital consists of ten operating theatres, ten intensive care units, two intensive care units, and the intensive care unit has a capacity of over 200 beds, with state-of-the-art medical equipment as well as specially trained doctors, nurses and others. This is the largest and most important neurosurgery department established in a Government Hospital in Sri Lanka and this neurosurgery department is also equipped with helicopter landing facilities (helipad).
