Kanish Nuwan a Volleyball Coach par excellence

Central Province, Walapane education zonal, Udupussellawa Amherst Tamil Vidyalayam sports teacher in charge, Kamaleshwaran Kanish Nuwan is currently considered the most , qualified volleyball coach and referee in the Nuwara-Eliya district. Kanish Nuwan following in his father mother and brother’s path and has many achievements in Nuwara Eliya district and national level in the game of volleyball.

Kanish Nuwan was born on 29th November 1996, as the son of former Central Province famous volleyball player and coach late Nagalingam Kamaleswaran and athlete Mrs. Wijayakoon Muthiyansalage Mallika. He has two brothers and a sister, and is a native of Tulloes estate, Udupussellawa in Nuwara Eliya district, where he pursued his education from elementary to Advanced Level in Tullose Tamil Maha Vidyalayam Udupussellawa.

During his school period (2002-2015) he participated in Walapane educational zonal, Nuwara Eliya District, Central Provincial and National level school volleyball games. Apart from that he has participated at 43rd Sports Festival Volleyball Tournament, Rupavahini Volleyball Championship, National Youth Sports Festival volleyball tournament, Dialog Volleyball Championship and Mercantile Volleyball competitions and showcased his skills to bring pride to his parents and school.

Subsequently under his volleyball coaching in Nuwara Eliya district, Udupussellawa Amherst Tamil Vidyalayam under 16 and 18 volleyball teams, Starlight Sports Club volleyball team, Aburnet Lanka (pvt) limited Sports Club volleyball team, Batticaloa Inanthalir Sports Club volleyball team, Nuwara Eliya District Kreeda Shakthi volleyball team, Department of Sports

Nuwara Eliya District Girls Volleyball Team and Nuwara Eliya District Open Youth Girls volleyball team recorded many significant victories in the district and National level volleyball competitions. He has successfully completed his volleyball Referees Course at Digana Sports Complex in 2021, Advanced Volleyball Training Course (Affiliated to Pathum Thani University – Thailand), 80 Hours Course – Ceylon sports academy, R/Diploma in National Institute of Sports Science, and National Youth Athletic Level-1 course to improve his professional skills.

He also serves as Nuwara Eliya District Kreeda Shakthi Assistant coach, Department of Sports Zonal men’s Team head Coach, Aburnet Lanka (pvt) Ltd volleyball team head coach, Starlight Sports Club, Batticaloa Inanthalir Sports Club coach and also deputy treasurer of Nuwara Eliya district Volleyball Referees Association.

His future ambition is to open a Volleyball Academy in the Nuwara Eliya district and thereby encourage and uplifting volleyball game among the Nuwara Eliya District youngsters.
