An incident has been reported from a village in Kegalle area indicating that a woman expelled her husband from their home upon discovering that he had allowed a neighbouring woman, with whom she had a longstanding feud, to feed him during the milk drinking contest using a teat, at a New Year festival held in the village.

A 36-year-old father of two had got married 11 years ago and before this marriage, in his youth, he had had an affair with a girl in the same village. The young man had given up the relationship after his parents expressed their strong disapproval. Later, the parents had found a young woman residing in Hemmathagama area in 2013 and got the young woman married to their son and brought her home to Kegalle.

After some time, the wife came to know about her husband’s relationship and there had been several arguments between the two. The father of two had affirmed that he had a relationship with her for a few months and there is no connection whatsoever with her thereafter. The father of two had told his wife several times that that woman does not talk to him anymore.

The father in question had participated in a New Year festival held in a paddy field of the village. The organising committee had requested to handover to the office, the name of the contestants who are participating in the drinking of milk contest using a teat.

This father had given his name to the office to participate in the milk drinking competition. The 12 contestants who had registered for the competition had been lined up.

The rules of the organising committee were that the competitor should keep his hands behind his back while a woman fed the contestant the milk from a bottle with a teat attached to it.

Among the 12 contestants, including the 36-year-old father of two, was last in line. It was the girl who he had, an affair in his youth had to feed him the milk. The woman fed the father of two, and he too had consumed the milk without any conversation between them.

In the end, the father-of-two won first place in the competition in drinking milk from a bottle with a teat. He was gifted a hot water bottle by the organising committee. A woman of the village who was at the New Year festival had called the wife of the father of two on the phone and informed her about her husband who had participated in drinking milk through a bottle with a teat.
