The promising player from Devapathiraja College Ratgama Sashini Gimhani has been named for the National Women’s cricket team for the forthcoming ICC T-20 world cup Global qualifier cricket tournament which to be held from April 25 to May 7 in Abu Dhabi Sashini Gimhani the unorthodox spinner who is having very similar action of Former South African spinner Paul Adams was involved recently concluded Tri nation Under 19 cricket tournament and this 15 year player is the youngest Sri Lanka player for the Abu Dhabi tour.

The selection committee mainly focused this unusual action bowler to make challenge against opponents and she is a good prospect for the future.

Sri Lanka women’s team recently won T-20 series against South Africa while they are presently involved in ODI series against South Africa while first ODI washed out in a no decision.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka under 19 women’s team played successful Tri nation series with England and Australia at Hambantota and Galle while they were able to beat both England and Australia team and young leagie Chamodi Munasinghe was outstanding by taking 8 wickets includiing a five wickets haul against England winning game. The women’s selection committee comprised Hemantha Devapriya, Sripali Weerakkody and Thilaka Nilmini Gunaratne and SLC women’s cricket coordinator Rasanjali de Alwis seriously observed young players during recently concluded Tri nation Under 19 team.

At the meantime Sri Lanka Cricket women’s Selection Committee headed by Hemantha Devapriya selected the 15-member national women’s squad to take part in this ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. Sashini Gimhani is the only new player added to this squad and she will join the squad after finished the South Africa ODI series. Meanwhile Oshadi Ranasinghe and wicket keeper Prasadini Weerakkody will return home after the South Africa ODI series.

The Minister of Sports Harin Fernando, approved the 15 member squad Sri Lanka wonens team will reach Abu Dhabi directly from South Africa, where the team is currently engaged in a white ball tour.
