The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) has confirmed that the cyber attack on the official website of the Education Ministry originated from an internet connection within the country.
SLCERT Senior Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola informed the Daily News that steps were taken to submit the investigation report related to the cyber attack on the website of the Education Ministry and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been notified about it.
Following the confirmation that the cyber attack was launched from a local internet connection, information has been requested from internet service providers to identify the perpetrator, and discussions are also underway with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka in this regard Damunupola said on April 11 that the official website of the Education Ministry was subjected to a cyber attack on April 5 and it is currently being restored. He expressed confidence that the website will be fully operational within the next two days.
