SJB Parliamentarian Nalin Bandara yesterday said that the National People’s Power (NPP) is trying to run away without debating with the economic committee of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya and they will not be allowed to run away from the debate.
“The debate between the SJB and the NPP or Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has become the main topic of the country these days. About a month ago, the NPP leader expressed an opinion about the NPP’s economic committee. “About a month ago, a journalist asked the NPP leader about the Finance Minister of the NPP. But at that point of time, NPP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake did not have an answer for that. Instead, Dissanayake announced that a committee consisting of Sunil Hadunnetti, Wasanna Samarasinghe and three others will manage the economy,” Bandara said.
He said that Anura Kumara Dissanayake revealed that one of them will be the Finance Minister under their government. “It was after this announcement that I presented a challenge to the NPP,” he said. Bandara said that he was the first to challenge the NPP for a debate but it did not receive publicity. “But I continued challenging the NPP for debate. After that, a committee consisting of Dr. Sunil Hadunnetthi, Dr. Seetha Bandara, and Professor Anil Jayasinghe was finally formed,” he said.
