Today’s solar eclipse, nicknamed “Great Northern American Eclipse” was observed through a narrow passage of North America, across parts of Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The path of totality was an even narrower passage, causing millions of Americans to flock to those areas.
These photos were taken at Potsdam, upstate New York, where the moon started covering the sun at 2:11 PM local time, and ended at 4:35 PM. During that time, between 3:24 PM and 3:27 PM was the total eclipse where the sun was completely covered by the moon.
The next total eclipse over the US will be on August 23, 2044.
