Mahela donates money to construct Indoor Stadium for Nalanda

Former Nalanda and National team Skipper Mahela Jayawardena came forward to donate money for his college’s four storied building for Gymnasium and Indoor stadium which will start construction very soon.

This four storied building give facilities for ten sports with facility for Gymnasium and this is a long felt need of Nalanda College. Distinguished Nalanda old boy Mahela Jayawardena who captained the College Under 19 team in 1995 is the first old boy to donate money for this building and already Rs.600 million has been estimated to build this new facility.

During the Nalanda College junior Old boys’ Annual General Meeting held recently, Mahela Jayawardena donated money to build this building and Mahela came to Nalanda College and discussed about cricket developments. Before the Ananda and Nalanda Battle of the Marrons big match Nalanda former skipper gave instructions to Ananda team while Former Ananda College skipper Avishka Gunawardena gave instructions to Nalanda team and it is for the first time that this type of programme has been organised to strengthen brotherhood among the two schools.
