Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College Kandy and Chameera Ginige of Sri Jayawardenepura University emerged women’s and men’s open champions at the Sabaragamuwa open All Island ranking TT Championships concluded at Bandaragama Indoor stadium.
Bimandee Bandara the promising under 19 paddler who is current National champions continues her form to win the women’s open title defeating Maneesha Shalindi of GSM TT Academy in a three setter game 13/11,11/3,11/8 at the final while Bimandee completed her double winning girls under 19 final while she defeated Divya Dharani of Dharmasoak College, Ambalngoda in a hard fought five setter game 9/11,13/11,11/6,7/11,11/9 to win under 19 title.
Chameera Ginige the former Dharmasokin and also former National champion once again came to the limelight while he defeated Imantha Udanjaya of Sri Lanka Army 11/6,11/7,11/6 to win this major title.
Under 19 Boys Singles final won by Rehan Senanayake of Ananda College Colombo defeating Janith Batugedara of Royal College, Colombo after making hard fought five setter game 13/11,11/8,7/11,8/11,11/9
Under 17 Girls Singles won by Tamadi Kavindya of Devananda College, Ambalangoda defeating Shamalsha Dewmi of Holy Cross College, Gampaha 7/11,11/6,20/18,11/9 while Under 17 Boys Singles final won by Shafiullah Akram of Trinity College, Kandy defeating Janith Batugedara of Royal College, Colombo 11/6,12/10,11/5.
