Public Security Minister Tiran Alles has instructed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon to conduct an urgent comprehensive investigation regarding a conspiracy to kill Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
Minister Alles has instructed the IGP to conduct an immediate inquiry into the matter based on a letter forwarded by an informant.
The IGP has given instructions to the CID to carry out a comprehensive investigation regarding this according to Minister Tiran Alles’ instructions.
According to information that has been received through a letter sent by an informant, it has been revealed in the content of the letter that there is an attempt to murder Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage by attacking with a long-range firearm.
The informant has mentioned in the letter that a person has requested the specific type of firearm over the phone to kill the Magistrate and details of the person with phone numbers have also been furnished in the informant’s letter. The CID has launched investigations to probe the information along with contact numbers of the person mentioned in the letter by the informant. The letter has also contained information stating that Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage must be finished due to the Court decisions he has made in the recent past. The informant has also mentioned in the letter that after the killing of Magistrate Thilina Gamage, it will become a big blow to the ‘Yukthiya’ special operation spearheaded by Public Security Minister Tiran Alles and IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon and another aim of this is to stall the ‘Yukthiya’ special operation and discredit both the Public Security Minister and the IGP. Additional security has been provided to Magistrate Thilina Gamage upon a request made by him to the IGP, according to latest reports.
