Rahula College Matara emerged boys champions while Dharmapala Pannipitiya emerged girls champions at the Sir Henry Steele Olcott Schools Relay Carnival concluded at the Kotawila Sports Stadium in Matara, last Friday.
Dharmapala girls obtained 90 points to win the title while Musaeus College secured the runner-up position, and Mahamaya College was placed third.
In the boys’ division, Rahula College claimed the championship with 99 points, while Dharmaraja College Kandy finished as the runner-up, followed by Dharmapala College Pannipitiya in third place.
This event was conducted after lapse of six years jointly organized by the Old Boys Association of Rahula College Matara, the Sports Club of Rahula College Old Boys’ Association, and the Col. Henry Steele Olcott Sports Foundation. The event was sponsored by Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s favourite chocolate brand of CBL as the main sponsor and Ritzbury has an idea to continue this sponsorship on annual basis.
The relay carnival was held as a part of the centenary celebration of Rahula College brought together Dharmapala College, Dharmasoka College, Sangamittha College Galle , Mahamaya Kandy, Maliyadeva Kurunegala, Sujatha College, Visakha College Colombo, Musaeus College, Ananda College, Nalanda College, Dharmaraja College and Mahinda College in rivalry.
