Samagi Jana Balawegaya Chairman, MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said he went to Courts and sought an injunction preventing his removal from party positions as he thought the party leader was referring to him when he said on several occasions that disciplinary action will be initiated against a party member irrespective of the position he held.
He said that reports were also published in the media that the SJB would take disciplinary action against him, and after considering all that, he took the relevant decision in order to avoid any such eventuality.
The MP said this while joining a non-partisan protest held in Kandy. He also emphasized that a similar decision had been taken by J.R.Jayewardene against Dudley Senanayake.
Fonseka said that the politics of embracing any rubbish to increase the number of heads cannot be approved and while it is important for a party to get the support of various people it was more important for politicians to work according to policies.
