The Government of Sri Lanka and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have decided to implement a 16-point action plan to restore Sri Lanka’s economy while completing the targets of the IMF.

This will be done in line with the governance diagnostic assessment on Sri Lanka by the IMF.

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund, Chief of Staff to the President, Senior Advisor to the President on National Security Sagala Ratnayake, Finance State Minister Shehan Semasinghe and high ranking officials of the Central Bank have participated in this discussion.

As a first step, the Sri Lankan side has agreed to implement 14 points and two points have been agreed to be implemented later.

The government expects to complete those two undertakings after setting the process on halting corruption and fraud at Sri Lanka Customs and the Inland Revenue Department.

Among the efforts planned are the strengthening of the Bribery Commission and streamlining the governance of the state machinery.
