Copy of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita presented to Speaker

A copy of Srimad Bhagavad Gita was presented to the Speaker of the Parliament Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena yesterday (04) in the Parliament. The book was presented by Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, marking the end of the four-day International Gita Festival held in Colombo, from March 1st to March 4th.

Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Dr Satyanjal Pandey, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka, delegation of 100-member led by Gita Manshi Swami Gyanandji, Swami Gurusharanandji, officials of the Kurukshetra Development Board were present at the occasion. Acting Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne and Assistant Secretary General Hansa Abeyratne were also present at the event.

Addressing the gathering, the Speaker stated that Bhagvad Gita was not just for Bharat but for entire humanity. He added that if all humans could get the message of Bhagvad Gita, problems would not have existed today.

The fifth edition of the International Gita Festival was organized for the first time in Sri Lanka by the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) of the Government of Haryana, the Ministry of Buddhasasana Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center with the contribution of About 30 local religious and social organizations and the cultural section of the Indian High Commission
