Eight Junior Shuttlers for Pakistan tour

Eight Sri Lankan shuttlers will take part in the South Asian Under-15 and Under-17 Badminton Championships in Pakistan and this tournament will be played at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad from March 3-7.

This is a good pathway to showcase local junior badminton talent to get more international exposure said Sri Lanka Badminton President Rohan de Silva .

“As the National Federation Sri Lanka Badminton ( SLB) always closely link with Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association and SLB made a great effort to make this tournament a success. SLB already formed junior regional pools and this program headed by SLB Vice President Roshan Gunawardena done a superb job to promote schools Badminton.

Sri Lankan shuttlers will play Under-15 category including boys’ singles, doubles, and mixed doubles with players Amawann Amarasinha and Chenal Dewshan Madapathage, and girls’ singles, doubles, and mixed doubles players Thenuki Ayansa de Silva and Binuri Jananga. In the Under-17 category participants include boys’ singles, doubles, and mixed doubles players Mihila Ravishka Krishna Jayaweera and Tejana Samuditha Herath, along with girls’ singles, doubles, and mixed doubles players Nethmi Amaya Ratnayake and Lakshana Sajeewakumar.

The team will be accompanied by coach Rajitha Dahanayake, assistant coach Iresh Maduranga de Silva, and lady chaperone Tharanga Wimalasuriya.

The championship, organized under the auspices of Badminton Asian and hosted by the Pakistan Badminton Federation. The tournament will feature team competitions on first and second day, followed by individual events on March 5 and 6, culminating with the finals on March 7.
