It is reported that the Deputy Director of the Colombo National Hospital (CNH), Dr. Rukshan Bellana, was forcibly detained in his office by a group of support staff members yesterday (16) around 12.30 pm, Hospital sources said.
As a result of this, a tense situation erupted in the Colombo National Hospital.
Seventy two health sector trade unions went on strike for two days from February 13, demanding them to pay an allowance similar to the Disturbance, Availability and Transport (DAT) allowance granted for the doctors. Commenting on this trade union action, Dr. Rukshan Bellana made a statement to the media blaming the workers earlier. He was held in his office by the support staff of the hospital after a protest.
