A coordinated operations conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy and Division Crime Investigation Bureau – Mannar led to the arrest of 02 suspects and seizure of 1472 Pregabalin capsules and a three wheeler in Mannar on 13th February 2024.
Based on information provided by the North Western Naval Command, SLNS Gajaba in the North Central Naval Command mounted an operation with the assistance of Division Crime Investigation Bureau – Mannar in Uppukulam area of Mannar. As a result of this operation, a person was searched on suspicion and he was arrested for the possession of 20 Pregabalin capsules. After further interrogation of the suspect, the raiding party carried out a another search operation in the same locality and was able to find 1432 more Pregabalin capsules from a house and 20 capsules of the same medicinal drug from a three wheeler as well as arrest of another (01) suspect in connection to this racket.
The suspects held in this operation were identified as residents of Silawathura and Mannar, aged 28 and 29. The suspects together with medicinal drugs and the three wheeler were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal action.
