Presidential Secretariat commences duties in New Year

President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with several Ministers and his staff at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (1) to commence work in the New Year, 2024.

Following the hoisting of the national flag by the President, symbolizing the initiation of the New Year’s duties, a one minute silence was observed in honour of the war heroes who bravely sacrificed their lives for the country.

Subsequently, the entire staff of the Presidential Secretariat collectively recited the public service pledge. President Wickremesinghe extended New Year greetings to his staff and engaged in friendly conversation with them. Emphasizing the importance of a collective commitment with optimistic attitudes and determination, the President highlighted the need to understand and overcome the challenges to lead the country to victory in 2024.

Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana, State Ministers Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Shehan Semasinghe, Kanaka Herath, MP Vajira Abeywardena, Presidential Senior Adviser on National Security and Chief of Presidential Staff Sagala Ratnayaka, President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake, Presidential Senior Adviser on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardena, Senior Advisor to the President on Economic Affairs Dr. R. H. S. Samaratunga, President’s Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Ashu Marasinghe, President’s Trade Union Director General Saman Ratnapriya, and other senior officers of the President’s Office attended.
