Strong earthquake strikes off North Sumatra; no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka

A strong 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck this morning in the Indian Ocean off North Sumatra.

National Tsunami Early Warning Centre said there is no tsunami threat to Sri Lanka at present due to the effect of this earthquake.
