Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL)yesterday said that when a mobile phone is purchased, the customer should ensure that the relevant phone has been approved by the TRCSL.
Deputy Director Menaka Pathirana said that every mobile phone has an IMEI number pasted on the box. The customer should send the relevant EMEI number to the TRCSL on 1909 in a form of an SMS.“You will promptly receive a reply from the TRCSL mentioning that the relevant phone is approved by the Commission or not.
She said that the customers can buy mobile phones approved by the Commission without any hesitation. “If they purchase TRCSL approved mobile phones, there is no need for them to face inconvenience in the future,”she said.
