Returning from Nuwara Eliya to Mattakkuliya :
Had fled upcountry during Yukthiya operation :
Fifteen persons including underworld gangster Thuppahi Arachchilage Prasad Ruwan alias Kudu Roshan and eight children who were in hiding in a hotel in Nuwara Eliya in fear of the Yukthiya operation launched by the Sri Lanka Police to nab drug traffickers and smugglers, were arrested in Warakapola yesterday while they were returning from Nuwara Eliya to Mattakkuliya.
Kudu Roshan who was involved in underworld operations in areas centering Mutwal was accused of killing five individuals including Chutty Ukku in 2015 who was engaged in drug smuggling. Kudu Roshan along with his associates and family members had fled to Nuwara Eliya as Police are on the hunt for drug smugglers and traffickers as part of Yukthiya operation.
However, they have decided to return to Mutwal after ten days thinking that the operation had ceased due to the Christmas.
They were arrested during a check up carried out at Anguruwella junction in the Warakapola Police division based on the information received to the Warakapola Police Anti-Corruption Unit OIC K.P.K.Ranawaka.
Police said that 10 males and five females including Kudu Roshan and his brother were among those arrested. Police said that they found heroin weighing 1.875 grams from the possession of an arrestee.
