A plane from Chennai to Jaffna yesterday flew back to Chennai after flying in Jaffna skies for 40 minutes due to bad weather conditions.
An official from the Jaffna International Airport stated that the pilots had to fly the plane in the Jaffna sky for the same time as it takes to travel from Jaffna to Chennai.
The airport staff was not able to give the landing message to the plane as there was a dark atmosphere around the Jaffna airport and the runway was flooded.
The pilots flew the plane for about forty minutes in the air with the hope of landing, but permission was not forthcoming and the pilots returned to Chennai with the 39 passengers from Chennai.
