The celebration of the 73rd Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy, renowned for its storied history, will be joyously marked on 09th December 2023. On the sidelines of this event, 1877 naval personnel, including both senior and junior sailors, were promoted to their next rate effective from 09th December.
Under the able guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, various programmes, emphasizing longstanding naval traditions and religious practices, are being implemented across all Naval Commands in view of the anniversary celebrations. The naval personnel were bestowed with a promotion bonanza on this noteworthy day, a gesture recommended by the Commander of the Navy, adding a special significance to the occasion.
Thus, 489, 264, 625 and 499 senior and junior sailors were advanced to the Ordinary Seaman, Able Seaman, Leading Seaman and Chief Petty Officer rates respectively.
