This year, 34 tea research papers will be released for development of tea industry

The launch of 34 research papers leading to the advancement of Sri Lanka’s tea industry was done today (7) in the morning at the Grand Monarch Hotel in Thalawathugoda.

The National Symposium on Tea 2023 organized by the Tea Research Institute was held today. A large number of tea-related people participated in this national conference, which was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera.

The papers of 34 researches, especially targeting certain issues related to the tea industry in the year 2023, were released today. The Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera said that these research papers have been carried out under the full sponsorship of the Tea Research Institute.

The minister, who further expressed his views, said that the time has come for Sri Lanka’s tea industry to be included in the value added production process as well as good agricultural practices.

Sri Lanka is the second largest supplier in the world tea market. The Minister emphasized that to make the Ceylon Tea brand popular again in the world market, it is essential to improve the quality of tea-related products.

Prime Minister’s Secretary Anura Dissanayake and Tea Research Institute Chairman Chinthaka Lokuhetti also participated in this event.
