Although a number of debates were held on the Easter Sunday attack, there has been no fruitful outcome from these debates, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa told Parliament yesterday. He also said even though the Opposition proposed that the Commission appointed to probe the incident should be taken forward under the Chairmanship of the Opposition, nothing has happened so far. Even former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa came to power promising to punish the mastermind of the Easter Sunday attacks, he said.

He also said that even the current President has stated that investigations will be conducted regarding the Easter Sunday attacks on many occasions, but nothing has happened. However, the Opposition Leader said that since someone is hiding the truth, no apology should be given to any party involved in this. The Opposition Leader said this while presenting his views on the Easter Sunday attack in Parliament.

He said that there should be no protection or support for those who contributed directly or indirectly to this terrorist attack and those who neglected their duty without taking any measures to prevent it. “The Catholic people as well as the people of the country have suffered a lot due to this attack therefore that a conducive environment should be created in the country without allowing terrorists to rise again,” he said.
