Saudi Arabia’s Economy and Planning Minister Faisal bin Alibrahim made an official visit to Sri Lanka recently.
During the visit, the Saudi Minister met Foreign Minister Ali Sabry, PC where both sides discussed the formulation of an Economic Roadmap between Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka that would encompass cooperation in a wide range of sectors including trade and investment, power and energy, tourism, cultural interaction, digital transformation and employment opportunities, particularly in the construction sector.
The Saudi Minister announced that their National Carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines would recommence flights to Sri Lanka very soon, which will contribute to capturing a sizable market of Saudi travellers to Sri Lanka. Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera, State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe, State Foreign Affairs Minister Tharaka Balasuriya and senior officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry were also present.
