Colombo South’s young cricket sensation, Rehan Peiris, stole the spotlight once again as he powered his team to victory with a splendid century against Galle in the Sri Lanka Cricket organized PRIMA U15 Sri Lanka Youth League match at DS Senanayake College grounds yesterday.

The 14-year-old, who made waves last year as the youngest player to score a half-century and become the Mustangs Trophy hero, showcased his talent by scoring 101 runs off 116 balls against Galle Under-15. Peiris, an opening right-hander, displayed skillful batting with three sixes and 11 elegant fours, leading Colombo South to a formidable total of 290/7 in their 50 overs while batting first.

Galle faced a tough challenge in their chase and was eventually bowled out for 94 runs. The hero with the ball for Colombo South was Himaru Deshan, who claimed a remarkable five-wicket haul. Deshan’s impressive bowling performance included figures of 5-22, conceding three maiden overs during his seven-over spell.

This victory marks another memorable chapter in Rehan Peiris’s cricket journey, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the youth cricket. (SJ)
