Travis Head taking the catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma

Speaking about his stunning catch the man of the final Travis Head in the post-match ceremony, acknowledged Rohit Sharma’s unfortunate situation. “He is (Rohit Sharma) probably the unluckiest man in the world,”

“Again, it’s (fielding) something that I worked hard on. I couldn’t imagine getting a hundred, couldn’t probably imagine holding onto that one. Was great to hold on to that catch,” Head said.

Travis Head also expressed satisfaction with the decision of his captain to bowl first after winning the toss. He said that they believed the pitch improved throughout the day. He also mentioned that the pitch displayed some spin, which proved advantageous to Australia.

All rounder Travis Head pulled off a stunning catch off Rohit Sharma before cracking a match-winning century which was the turning point of this match .Travis Head was the star of the World Cup final for Australia as he single-handedly derailed India’s title push. His impressive 137 off 120 balls made him the third Australian, after Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist, to score a century in a World Cup final. His performance highly appreciated by skipper Pat Cummins as well as all International cricket experts .

in the 10th over of India’s innings, he pulled off one of the best catches of the tournament to dismiss India’s captain, Rohit Sharma. Ian Smith, in the commentary, declared it as the turning point of the match

The expert commentators said Rohit Sharma, who has been blazing away at the top of the order, had already taken down Josh Hazlewood, a key Australian bowler. He then went after Glenn Maxwell with consecutive sixes and a boundary in the last over of the powerplay. However, his aggressive approach led to his downfall when he went for a third big shot. He turned the bat and the ball look a leading edge and went up miles in the air, Head, standing at cover, ran back and kept track with the ball, dived backwards and completed a fantastic catch. This was unbelievable catch and i was the turning point.

There is a feeling that Head can emerge as one of the country’s finest middle-order batsmen in limited-overs cricket. His ticket to international fame in the 2015-16 BBL season when he smoked a century to take the Adelaide Strikers to a victory against the Sydney Sixers. An international debut followed within weeks as he was picked for the T20I series against India at home.

Head wasn’t picked for the 2016 T20 WC but since then, managed to be in the selectors’ plans. In 50-overs cricket, Head started to become a vital cog of the Australian side. He has donned multiple roles with the bat – mostly batting in the middle order but also opened the innings in early 2017 as a part of the management’s plan for the Champions Trophy that was to be held

later that year. His debut as an opener saw him cracking a century and also being involved in a historic opening stand with David Warner who also got past the three-figure mark. That experiment didn’t last long though and Head started getting back to his middle order routine, used mostly as a floater. Head however lost out on batting form in the 50-over format and was ignored for the 2019 WC as others in the form of Shaun Marsh and Marcus Stoinis were preferred . this time he was originally not included for world cup squad but later he got chance as an opening batsman and he proved his class with a superb fighting century at the world cup final which earned him man of the final.
