Cabinet approval has been given to purchase 10,000 metric tonnes of sugar from the existing stocks from importers and distribute them through Sathosa and related institutions at a controlled price.
Apart from this, in order to prevent the shortage of keeri samba rice, it has been approved to import 100,000 metric tonnes of keeri samba and distribute it through Government agencies.
