Defending champions Trinity qualifies for final

Defending champion Trinity College Kandy entered the final of the Under 19 Division One Tier A Limited Overs Inter Schools Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday.

Trinity College Kandy beat Royal College Colombo by 11 runs according to the DLS method in the semi final at Surrey grounds Maggona on yesterday.

Trinity College Kandy scored 236 runs. Top order left hander Supun Waduge scored 101 runs in 1.5 balls with 9 boundaries. Supun Waduge and Manula Kularatne (51) made 120 runs stand for their 5th wicket. Sineth Jayawardena claimed 3 wickets for 34 runs. Ramiru Perera and Ranuka Malaviarachchi claimed 2 wickets each.

Royal College Colombo scored 80 runs for 2 wickets in 20 overs. Match called off due to rain earlier. They got 91 runs in 20 overs. Opener Rehan Peiris scored unbeaten 41 runs and Ovina Ambanpola scored 30 runs.

Defending champion Trinity College Kandy will meet St. Joseph’s College Colombo in the final on Tuesday at Thurstan ground Colombo.

Trinity College Kandy won by 11 runs (DLS).
