A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 had rocked the Indian Ocean seas southeast of Sri Lanka yesterday (14) afternoon. The earthquake had occurred 1,326 km off the southeast of Colombo in the Indian Ocean zone at around 12.31 pm local time (IST) yesterday (14) afternoon at a depth of 10 km,
according to the National Centre for Seismology of India reports.
The earthquake was of a magnitude of 6.2 with latitude of -2.96 and longitude of 86.54. There is no impact whatsoever on Sri Lanka by this earthquake, the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau said.
