A special search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy on the Analaitivu Island, Jaffna on Friday (10), led to the recovery of cannabis weighing over 69 kgs.
The SLNS Elara belonging to the Northern Naval Command mounted a search operation on the Analaitivu Island on Friday morning and Naval personnel recovered a suspicious sack left behind at the coastal vicinity and recovered this stock of cannabis. The sack contained 18 parcels of cannabis weighing about 69 kgs and 5g, which were subsequently taken into Naval custody.
Meanwhile, the gross street value of the consignment of Cannabis is believed to be over Rs. 27 million. The stock of cannabis has been kept in the Naval custody.
