The coaching staff of the national cricket team is receiving a monthly salary of nearly Rs. 40 million (US$ 119,200), highly placed sources said.
Sources pointed out that the decision taken to suspend the registration of the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute and to appoint an Interim Committee was due to what was revealed in the special audit report conducted by the National Audit Office in connection with the Twenty20 World Cup held in Australia last year and other irregularities reported in recent times.
The monthly salary of the head coach of the Sri Lankan team, Chris Silverwood is US$ 30,000, which is more than Sri Lankan Rs. 9.8 million.
Training consultant Mahela Jayawardena’s monthly salary is US$ 20,000, which is more than Sri Lankan Rs. 6.5 million. Assistant coach Naveed Nawaz’s monthly salary is US$ 14,000, which is more than Sri Lankan Rs. 4.5 million.
Bowling Coach Anton Rooks and physiotherapist Chris Clarke’s salary is US$ 8,000 each, which is more than Sri Lankan Rs. 2.6 million. It is said that there is also a physiotherapist named Tihan Chandramohan who earns more than Rs. 2.9 million.
The monthly salary of Timothy McCaskill, an Australian, who works as the head of the task force or the head of the high performance development centre, is close to Rs. 5 million. Noel McCarthy and Grant Loudon are two other foreign managers and their monthly salary is over Rs. 2.1 million.
They expressed confidence that by appointing sub-committees to take action related to cricket administration, cricket development and legal affairs, the necessary foundation for the development of cricket in this country will be laid by the Interim Committee.
